Once in a Lifetime experience!!
So I'm hiking the trail on the Brazilian side of Iguassu Falls and I pass the booth where they do the rappelling and it hits me, how can you put a monetary value on being able to say, "yeah, well I've rappelled at Iguassu Falls!" The rappelling trip and the pictures ended up being 100 Reis (about $60) so well worth the bragging rights to be able to say that I did it. I was expecting it to be a lot more and had planned on spending it. The whole decision part reminded me of the Brian Reagan skit about "Walking on the Moon."
Oh, and it was a lot of fun too!
Out of the Country
It's been a great week! I've had a few successes and accomplished some great things. I'm going to be visiting South America for the next two weeks. I'll share pictures when I get back.

Human nature?
So I pull up to the bank on a Saturday morning and there is a long line of cars at the drive through. The thing is there are 3 lanes open at the drive through and everyone is stacked up at one. So I pulled into the 2nd lane and straight up to the tube. After I did that, several of the cars in the line pulled into the spots behind me. No one pulled into the 3rd lane that was also open. So what is it with people? Is it easier to wait in line than be the first to do something different? So if you were one of the people lined up, would you be offended if someone did what I did and pulled into the available lane? Why would you be offended?
So how do you react?
When someone announces to a room that they find you to be the most opinionated person within the most diverse topics. And then they say, that they mean it as a compliment?
Make up your mind... (a rant!)
There is only one of me. I cannot do it all. If you're so worried about everything why don't you deal with it and take some of the extra's off my desk. Oh, wait, that's right! You don't think I do anything in the office but surf the internet. It's bad enough that you put me on a time clock and then continue to accuse me of not putting in enough hours. I put in 82 hours in a two week period and that doesn't include the FTO for taking two days off to go to a seminar. Now you have the gall to tell me that you want me to put in even more hours. I should just take my plant and purse and leave you high and dry.
It's just weird seeing the disconnect between what the middle managers and my clients tell me and the way you treat me. You have been doing your level best for 6 years to make me feel that I add no value to the company. Your actions tell me that anything I consider to be an issue deserves to be ignored. Then when it's a crisis, it's my fault for not bringing it to your attention sooner.
I have rescheduled my annual exam three times now (the one the iHealth nurse you pay for keeps calling and chewing me out for not having). I'm supposed to have it tomorrow at 11. I don't see how I can keep the appointment with the lecture I had today from you on priorities.
Funny, I know I'm not a priority in your eyes, otherwise I wouldn't have to leave you around 3 or 4 messages in order to get a call back on the projects you assign to me. But then, you've also demonstrated that anything you assign to me couldn't possibly be that necessary to the company because you don't trust me.

I have varied interests and will at least start anything that comes my way, I just may not finish it.
Just a thought from the Donald...
In the book that Donald Trump co-authored with Robert Kiyosaki, they say there are three levels of financial education in this country (when education happens at all).
First is the education of the poor, they are told that they are entitled to rely on the government for everything. I can see that, 20 years ago when my husband lived in Arkansas third grade math consisted of filling out welfare forms for the parents and calculating what food stamps would buy. How will that encourage a child to improve?
Second, is the education given to the middle class - go to school to get a good job, don't incur any debt and invest in mutual funds for retirement. This is the class that disappears as the dollar devalues and savings are useless.
Third is the education of the rich. The rich realize that money is just a commodity with which you trade. Time is not money, time is everything. You can replace money, you cannot replace time. Money allows you to have time. Do not do anything yourself that you can pay someone to do. Do not pay retail, negotiate for a better price. Do not buy liabilities, buy assets. It's only an asset if it makes money for you. Debt may be necessary to leverage a deal. It doesn't matter what an asset costs, it's what the return on investment!
So, where does your money mind lie? and what are you doing about it.
