Wishlists

Wouldn't it be cool if people would register for house warming presents the way people register for wedding or baby shower gifts? I'm sure that someone does it somewhere I just don't know where to go to find the registry. I do appreciate the rise in websites with Wishlists since it becomes easier to get gifts for friends and relatives. I'm not sure how effective wishlists really are though, in my case, because I can't think of a time that anyone has purchased anything off my wishlist, even the one that was pre-internet that I used to give to my husband just prior to Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Christmas or my birthday.
Not to mention, you have to know the user name to access the wishlist's on some websites and do you really know the user names that your friends and family use? I know my kids user names but I don't think that I know any of my siblings' user names. I have to admit that my use of wishlists is to keep track of things that would normally be impulse purchases. It's fun to go back several months later and wonder why I ever thought that I wanted the item on the list. At least it saved me from spending money on things that I didn't want 6 months after I would have purchased them.
